10 Best Easter Crafts for Sunday School Jesus Raises a Woman's Son from the Dead Craft 5 Sheep Crafts for Sunday School "I am Jesus’ Little Lamb” ]]>

Here is the full transcript of the video titled “Crafts Ideas: The Sacrifice of Isaac”:

“We have some more fun bible crafts today and they feature a story that’s sometimes strange to tell and definitely strange to craft but is an important reminder of the sacrifice that God made for us and how we can put God first in our lives. So we’re looking at the story of Abraham and Isaac from Genesis chapter 22 when God called Abraham to sacrifice his son to take his son who he loved and kill him and Abraham followed God’s directions but did not have to kill Isaac after all fortunately this one has a happy ending but also foreshadows God’s sacrifice of Jesus for us.

So the first craft we’re going to make is a sacrificial altar of sorts we’re gonna do this on a good old-fashioned paper plate and we’re going to make sort of a fire on top of it so I’m going to start out with my plate and I’ve got some pre-cut strips here to show the fire of the altar I’m also going to make a caption for this so we can see what’s going on so I’m going to say up on my plate we’ll give it a title the altar make sure that’s filled with an A and not an e e is to change Alters yeah you get altar of oh I just change instead of sacrifice Sacre spice so we know why we’re doing this culture of sacrifice writing on plates is difficult to begin with so here we go now I’m going to add some wood well I’m going to draw some wood you could do this you could make it with popsicle sticks or toothpicks if you wanted more actual woodiness I since I’m laying my fire on top of here I’m just going to use some markers and crayons to get the wood going and then of course fortunately in this case the wood didn’t happen to light on fire until later when we spotted a ram in the bushes that’s great but we get the um General feel it for it here now I’m going to add on my fire elements so I’ve got I’m just gonna throw some glue down here throw it down rub it all around glue everywhere then there we go I’m going to put my strips so I’ve got some strips of paper to show the flames I’ve also got a little bit of crepe paper here or you can use tissue paper to add to that flaming ambiance and just kind of crisscross zigzag these all the way around there we go it’s more Flames going there and then I’ll add my other caption here after a little more flaminess blaminess is certainly a word I’m sure of it and here I’ll add on a couple more Fire Sticks just for good measure so down here I’m going to write God spared Abraham’s Sun but not his own down here all right the reference Genesis 22 all right the Great gift and I’m gonna draw a little across so hmm and add that on with glue or staple or just some tape and we have our lovely fiery altar remember the great sacrifice that God gave us so that is craft number one.

Craft number two we’re going to look at the ram which was the substitution the animal that was able to be used instead of Isaac so Isaac didn’t have to die well Jesus is our substitution he is the great Lamb of God who died so we don’t have to die for our sins so that’s the idea that we’re looking at here and we’re going to start off with a piece of paper and we’re going to draw the outline of this Ram well sort of actually let’s start with I would love to call this a substitutionary atonement but that’s a little bit Advanced for young children so we’re just going to call this the rate sacrifice and then we’ll explain ourselves a bit here a ram

died instead of Isaac the lamb of God died instead of me then down here we’ll mark Genesis 22 and now we’ll draw our lamb Ram rather of course difference being that a ram is a male and your lamb is a female there’s your fun fact for the day so here’s my big fluffy Ram and I didn’t leave myself quite as much stream as I wanted for the horns but that’s okay we’ll make this happen so for my horns I’m going to first you need the eyeball and a smile well he shouldn’t really be smiling because he is about to be roasted over the Flames but that’s okay he’s smiling because he’s giving his life for someone else sort of so I’m gonna make my horns of this Ram out of a pipe cleaner I’m just gonna Bend some pipe cleaner into a curlicue shape not to be mistaken for antenna of course because we do the same thing when we make bugs but in this case it’s a ram horn so get that right there I’m going to tape it on and there we go again it’s going to make it slightly hard to see my lovely caption I’ll have to sort of angle his horns that way a little bit there we go now I’m going to cover this with cotton balls so that my Ram looks nice and fluffy and ramish and that glue stick there is on its last legs emptying for my backup glue here it’s all right we can use liquid glue as well there we go so we’ll blew this guy up and give him some fluff so here come my cotton balls all over everywhere if you would like you could hang this up add a pipe cleaner or a hanger of some sort or you could um threw a magnet on the back to hang it whatever you like that’s perfectly fine or just leave as is you can hang it on the fridge with a magnet so we have my nice fluffy Ram oh one more thing actually we’re going to add on a cross to remember that this is pointing the way in representing Jesus so I’m going to just add the cross over here I’m just gonna do a little crisscross with some popsicle sticks and there is and cross to go with my Ram to remember the sacrifice that was made for Isaac and even more amazing sacrifice that was made for us so two crafts to help share this sometimes challenging story that has a powerful and important meaning as well that it’s really about God’s love for us yes we put God first and we want to love him first and foremost as Abraham did and to be willing to sacrifice for him but more than that we value what he sacrificed for us so enjoy feel free to adapt rearrange use as you will hopefully these crafts can help you and to be a blessing to you and your ministry wherever and with whomever that might be so join us again we have new videos out every week go make some crafts make some disciples and have a great week see ya.”

Children’s Sermon Lesson: Transformed by Christ Romans 6:1-14 Crafts: Jesus Restores Peter John 21:1-19 Sunday School Craft Activities NEW: Armor of God Sunday School Curriculum ]]>

Vdeo “Craft Ideas: New Life in Christ”:

“Hello there, it is time to get creative once again and today’s crafts are all about transformation. We’re talking about Romans 6 and how we are made new in Christ, how we die with him and have a resurrection with him as well. So we’re going to celebrate that with a couple of crafts that sort of talk about things that can change or grow or transform.

First thing we’re going to do is we’re going to look at how seeds can grow into flowers and our craft is going to start out with a nice piece of paper and we’re going to use a nice pink piece of paper today I guess I have a pink thing going I have a lot of papers actually but we’re gonna use actually I’m more fun I’m going to do a double-sided paper and we’re going to fold it and almost make like a card in a sense but don’t worry you’ll understand momentarily so we’re going to start out just by gluing these two parts of paper together you can of course just use one piece of paper and fold it over but this is really going to complete that transformation element and also gives me a bit more thickness to my paper if you use something like cardstock this may not be necessary but there you have your paper now I’m going to fold it sort of like a card on this part here I will start with caption and since we’re focusing on seeds here let’s say just has seeds grow into plants because that’s the idea here start with something that gets transformed into something new now I have a variety of seeds so I have some pumpkin seeds and the craft is not focusing on pumpkin but that’s okay let’s see if it’s a seed and with these you can glue them down you can tape them on I might do a little of both just to make things nice and extra secure but we’ve got also some more fun seeds over here I have some Kohlrabi and some radishes as it turns out and also a little bit of tarragon now these ones are very very small little guys in fact those ones are so small I’m not even gonna use them because you can’t see what they are but sprinkle just a few of these out [Music] and then I will put some tape over for reinforcement these are really small kind of like mustard seeds about as small as that but that’s all Faith you need to move mountains after all so again you can use a variety of seeds it’s just one Whatever you’ve got whatever works these are the guys remind me of rat droppings but promise they’re seeds so tape them down to reinforce and then on the inside of your paper we’re going to have the fun flowery part so just as seeds go into plants Here Comes our suspense open up my paper since here’s the fun part now of course pumpkin seeds and Kohlrabi seeds are not going to turn into flowers but that’s okay we don’t have to know any of that so I’m going to take a couple of coffee filters stirred up my flowery little teeth and I’m going to again write my verse caption here and I’ll say we have New Life in Jesus I can be transformed and then I’ll reference Romans 6. you can do the full referencer just the sixth part will work as well so now I’m going to my coffee filters I’m going to add a little bit of color of course please feel free to make this so much more wonderful and beautiful and nice and neat and lovely match this I’m gonna try and two sort of like a smashed one so it’ll fit but obviously for timing I’m not going to make them all wonderful and beautiful and gorgeous and lovely but you please feel free to make them so much more wonderful than this so I’m going

to take that guy down I’m gonna add on another little coffee filter actually this is a mini muffin container because I’m just getting too carried away with this and then I’m then I guess and we have our lovely Interactive flowery display I mean it’s kind of interactive I don’t know if it’s entirely interactive but you get the idea is that I’m talking about how we have transformation and we our New Creations because of Jesus so here we have plain born little tiny seeds and if you want to get more creative you can like draw some roots on here or something but they sprout into wonderful Blossom flowers seeds flowers seeds flowers I do the large enough paper you could do that all in one but it’s kind of fun to have that Tada transformation moment so that is craft number one.

Craft number two also has to do with a wonderful transformation we are going to make a butterfly that’s right a beautiful wonderful lovely butterfly so I’m just looking for some good paper to start on now first I’m going to actually before making my butterfly make my cocoon or Chrysalis if you want to be technical about things because Coons are for moths and crystals they’re from butterflies but anyways so I’m going to start out with this guy and we’re even going to make a little caterpillar kind of going down into this cocoon you can make it more fun and fluffy if you want I’m just doing a very simple basic caterpillar here and maybe we’ll give him some legs here’s my caterpillar he’s going down into his chrysalis and you can even I’ve got another version of this craft well you make a separate caterpillar put it into the Cocoon bring out the butterfly we’re doing it slightly differently this time but here is my caterpillar so we’re gonna say Prince formation let me say old things made new now I’m going to come over here and make my butterfly and I’m gonna give myself sort of a template of sorts so I know where to cut I’m gonna get this butterfly some lovely wings nice thing is also if I except I can just cut it out around it so that’s the basic idea of my butterfly if you worry it’ll be much more lovely in just a moment so I’m gonna cut out my butterfly and give it some wonderful decoration two there we go these little wings all separated here and now I’m going to add some adornments so I will do a caption on here and we’ll say I have New Life and Jesus give my verse reference here now I’m gonna give this butterfly some fun additions too give them that same little fun caterpillar face now I’m going to make this sort of three-dimensional and colorful by adding some tissue paper so what I’m going to do is I’m going to throw glue over one section at a time and then I’m going to there’s a couple ways you can do this you can just scrunch up pieces like that and stick it on or you can use a pencil or a toothbrush to grind your pieces like that sort of wiggle it around and stick it on if it ever floats your boat if you’re working with little guys this allows you to get some fun fine motor in with your Craft Time that’s always a handy dandy bonus we’re just going to our stuff all over this little butterfly and hey if you’re in a mood to teach you can also talk about patterns and colors and all this fun stuff but I’m going to demonstrate one segment obviously this scrunching and squishing and squeezing and gluing can take some time so I’m gonna kind of do a quick job with my other segments so that you’re not here forever watching me squish tissue paper into little balls but once you’ve got these all squished on and you don’t even have to necessarily squish them you could also

just do them flat like a mosaic but it’s a little more fun to have this poppy outy squishy element and yes those are all real charms poppy Audi squishy all things definitely all things so now I’ve got my beautiful butterfly let me give him one more thing before I stick them in his chrysalis and that is I’m going to give him some antenna here just gonna take a pipe cleaner and I’m going to roll it and I could took a hole punch in and poke this through his little head I don’t have quite a little the room for that so I’m going to just do it with a piece of tape tape on his antenna and now my butterfly is complete so to celebrate in your life and transformation I can fold this little guy tuck them into chrysalis and like the new life we have in Jesus like remembering baptism like being born again all those great things we have are caterpillar and two I love they love the butterfly so two fun crafts that hopefully will emphasize this element of transformation new life and who we are it’s our identity in Jesus hopefully that can give you some ideas to start off from bounce off of whatever you want to do with it roll with them and hopefully this is a blessing to you and your ministry wherever and with whomever that might be have some fun go make some crafts make some disciples see you next time.”

Craft: How to Make a Prayer Cube for Kids 5 Sheep Crafts for Sunday School "I am Jesus’ Little Lamb” Doubting Thomas Craft Ideas ]]>

“Hi there, today it’s crafts feature the story of Abraham and Sarah and the birth of their son Isaac. Now the first craft that we’re going to make has to do with how the Angels came to visit and announced that Isaac would be born which of course led to laughter on the part of Sarah which of course led to Isaac’s name spoiler alert but anyway we’re going to make a little craft celebrates that now at the time they were living out near Mamre. So they were living in a tent so we’re going to make a tent and that’s going to be our backdrop way of showing Abraham and Sarah.

So here we’re going to have basic craft supplies all you’ll need is some paper markers and crayons scissors some glue or tape that’s all there is to it now we’re going to start out actually by making the characters of Abraham and Sarah and you can make as many of the visitors as you’d like you can just do one for the sake of a story and timing or if you have time and you want to make a whole bunch make all three or whatever you want to do anyways we’re going to start off with that now can do this part you can print out pre-made pictures of these characters but what’s the fun and creativity of that so I’m actually going to draw myself some people and I’m not the grandest of artists but here’s Abraham Father Abraham as it were and I’m not going to do a really detailed job here guess I should have given him some gray hair but oh well here’s how it’s going to be and Abraham’s over here he’s got some bread that he’s serving to these Angelic visitors see always be nice and you’re hosting guests because you just never know who’s going to be at your door so there’s Abraham and then over here we’ll make Sarah don’t worry you’ll see how this all goes together so here’s Sarah and she’s laughing because she thinks it’s impossible that she could have a kid in her old age she’s just gonna be lifting up her hands going that’s just so silly and she’s also gonna be sitting down because I do or her’s true short that’s the truth of the matter there but here’s Sarah now we’ll have space four this Angelic post here so once I get all these guys drawn again you can actually have these already drawn and cut out but here is my guy and explaining what’s gonna happen and of course he doesn’t really look like an angel because we don’t really know that he is I mean we know he is but you get the idea anyways there’s my three figures so I just gotta give him a little Halo because you know he’s an angel now we’re gonna cut these guys out and I’m going to attach them onto a piece of paper but wait there’s more because the really fun part comes at the end when we make things in tips but I’m absolutely intended so got my figures cut out here and one two three Abraham Sarah and there’s special special holy visitor now I’m going to add them to this backdrop here and that glue is all out then we will add our tent so here’s good old father Abraham but he’s not a father yet here’s special special visitor and here’s Sarah laughing at his message now we’re going to make the fun tent so what we’re going to do here is we’re going to cut out a triangle that can be peeled back like a tent you’ll see what I mean in just a moment but I’ve got just make sure have enough space cover all of my little characters here to do here we go and that’s why we have extra pieces of paper because that is not going

to cover all of my little characters let’s just try that again on the tent making there we go that will work as long as I make it you’re never domey Dent which we can do so I’m just gonna make it kind of a house tint snippy snip snip snip there we go their feet might be peeking out the bottom a little bit that’s all right and I’m going to cut a slit in the center here so that this can be Fold It Up one way or the other way to reveal what is inside and glue that part on just at the top because we want to still be able to fold it back now we’re going to capture this so we know what in the world all this is about and let’s see something like entertaining [Music] angels the birth of Isaac he is no laughing matter we’ll give her a little reference here this is from Genesis chapter 18. and then if you like you can add some embellishments and decorations to your little tent and just make a little little tassel coming down here show that this is a lovely tent you may be living out in the wilderness but they can still have a nice home and now what we’ll have is we’ve got our backdrop and our tent and we can lift the flaps to see who’s underneath here we have our tent in the wilderness oh but wait there’s Abraham and Sarah and their special visitor so that’s craft number one to tell explain and remember the story craft number two is a bit more simple and it’s kind of just a fun remembrance of this baby that was born so we are going to make ourselves a little baby and this time I’m going to start off with a caption here and then we’ll see baby Isaac is born found in Genesis chapter 21. so there’s my explanation for why I have this random baby on a piece of paper now we’re gonna make that random baby for the paper and you can put this on any sort of a backdrop and if you want you could even make a little basket or you can use like a paper bag that’s really better for Moses but if you wanted to use a paper bag go for it now to make my baby I’m going to use a toilet paper too or a paper towel too burp whatever kind of tube you’ve got you you can also use clothes pin you can use a paper plate there’s lots of ways to make a cute little baby for instance paper plate you fold it over like this there’s a cute little baby inside lots of baby ways but we’re going to do what toilet paper tube today and we’re going to start off by drawing a little face on baby Isaac so we know that he’s alive he’s not just a tube in fact if you want to get real creative we could put the tube inside of the paper plate but we’ll just do the Jeep for now here’s the two baby face and now we’re gonna wrap him up I’m gonna put some glue on him and then I’m going to use crepe paper you can also use regular paperwork you can use toilet paper whatever you’ve got whatever you’d like to use so we’re gonna swaddle him with this paper and obviously I’m not going to cover up his face that would be pretty cool but here’s a little baby Isaac where these little baby blanket I’m going to add a piece of tape to secure it all down and there we go and just for fun I can show you the Simplicity of this paper plate feature we would just fold it up like this staple or tape it down here so now you’ve got options and do that cute little baby face again which of course you could make it more decorative you can color it more you can add some hair whatever you’d like to do two ways to make baby Isaac you can even add if you’re using the

toilet paper method to the paper tube that is give him a little sash why not maybe he’s gonna have a little sash it right sure so two adorable baby Isaac’s either one of which you can affix to your background with your first caption and voila two simple but fun and creative crafts to celebrate the story of the birth of Isaac and how God always always keeps his promises you might have to wait you might not be sure what he’s going to do but he is always at work so hopefully this can help you with this wonderful story from the book of Genesis now go make some crafts make some disciples and join us again have a great week see you next time.”

10 Best Easter Crafts for Sunday School Jesus Raises a Woman's Son from the Dead Craft 5 Sheep Crafts for Sunday School "I am Jesus’ Little Lamb” ]]>

“Hello there Crafters, this week we have some creative creation crafts for you. We’re talking about Genesis chapter one and how God made everything. So we are going to make not quite everything but a couple of things in honor of the creation story. So let’s get right to work, we have a couple of really great things today. The first one we’re going to do is just sort of a little reminder of you of what was made on each day of creation. So we’re going to do a story on popsicle sticks and we’re going to start out popsicle sticks of course and some paper. Now I’m going to cut out strips of paper, basically we’re going to be taping or pasting our papers onto the popsicle stick. Now you can do this in circles or really in any shape, I’m going to do it in rectangles and you’ll kind of see why in a moment. So I’m just going to start trying to make relatively even or relatively similar size rectangles with my papers and you don’t want them to be too huge because of course they have to put on a popsicle stick but they’re going to have take a guess at how many total, that’s right seven because again this is the creation story and to go with the seven days of well technically six days in a rest but spoiler alert. So we’re going to cut out seven rectangle strips again a pretty similar size and let’s see if I can math all right I’ve got six and get one more and what we’re going to do is sort of make a self quizzing game almost for these different days of creation. So on each strip what we’re going to do is fold it in half and this is what’s going to go on the popsicle stick again even that’s a little big I could probably make these strips slightly smaller but we’ll stick with this and so we’re going to do is we’re going to put a number on one side of the strip and then on the other side we’re going to draw a picture and or write words describing what happened on that day of creation. So we’re going to do this the abbreviated version so we’re not here all day but feel free to take your time maybe even drag this out over a couple of days or a couple of weeks rather. So we’re going to start with number one then on the inside I’ve got light and dark so you could do I don’t know you could do a little light bulb or something to remind you of that light bulbs were not invented yet then but you get the idea. So then we have day two we’re gonna put our nice big two on here and we’ll have water and Skye that’s why it’s blue draw some clouds there if you have stickers to go along with this that’s awesome also again this is the very basic basic version then we’re gonna have day three four lamps and trees it’s a lovely lovely tree trust me that’s what that is then we’ll have day four one is four stars and sun so I could have some Stars Sun do you get the idea then we’re getting there we’re almost there and we have today five with there we go five we have creatures water creatures animals that kind of fun stuff we it’s fish and a flying fish and last well almost last we have Capstone here oh and on day seven we have that wonderful blessing that is wrist so now that we have all of our components here we are going to tape them onto the back of popsicle sticks and you can glue or tape them but I like to tape just for the fact of that way I don’t have to wait for the glue to dry so we’re going to taper our sticks down then we’re

going to get a cup or bowl or some kind of something and we’re going to decorate it and use it as a vessel for my sticks and then we can turn this into sort of a guessing game review game kind of a thing so we’ve got all my sticks and then put them in my cup and if you write creation which you could really can’t see from where you are but that’s what it says there you can throw on some stickers and then replace our sticks into the cup and pull them out to go oh number seven what happened then that’s when God rested that’s our Sabbath our day of rest or ooh what happened on day three hmm well that’s when the plants and trees came so just a fun little review of application story that you can turn into a game and activity and craft all at once.

Now craft number two we’re going to take a slight deviation on things and we’re going to have some extra fun here making something that can be created and crafted and molded as well we’re going to be making Play-Doh that’s right Play-Doh so we are going to make something that can then be made into other somethings we’re going to start off their basic ingredient now are there multiple Play-Doh recipes out there of course you betcha there’s all kinds of Play-Doh recipes so this is one way to do it there are many others and of course make as much as you need or as many people as you need this is going to be a smallish batch but I don’t need that much anyway so I’m going to start out with a cup of flour again use however much you need these can be adjusted that’s not a good measuring you should really scrape it off with a knife but it’s Play-Doh it’s not a cake so flour and we’re going to have a quarter cup of salt it’s a lot of salt that’s okay supposed to be then to that we’re going to add a teaspoon of vegetable oil working all the oil whatever you got and now we’re going to stir this all together just get it nice and mixed up and Incorporated then maybe a tiny bit more oil here there we go possibly that was too much but we’ll see we can always adjust now I’m going to take a half a cup of water I’ve got here and I’m going to add in some food coloring whichever color you like of course my favorite color is green so I’m going to add in a little bit of green one drop or two is enough and that is naturally going to make it colorful if you want it to be scented Play-Doh if you really wanted to create it you could drop in some essential oils or vanilla or something to give yourself a little bit of a scent of course that’s totally optional so I’m gonna kind of gently pour this in to see how much I need I may not need all of it it’s obviously I’m not going to dump it all in there if I don’t need all of it but Stir It Around and do I make homemade Play-Doh you ask well partly because it’s fun it’s a great rainy day activity you could also eat it and it wouldn’t hurt you I mean that’s not gonna taste great but it’s not gonna hurt you um non-toxic and if you made it with sugar I guess you could make it sweeter but this part is going to be pretty salty now last thing I’m going to add to this is cornstarch so I’m going to pop in just a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch that will get things nice and thickened up and when you can’t really stir it anymore you’re gonna sort of knead it like a dough so at this point of my ingredients are nicely Incorporated and I’m just going to finish it off by kneading it together nice there we go

and just knead and squish and squish and knead until you have this lovely blob you can kind of feel it coming together you can feel it getting more play-doh-ish and again this doesn’t look or taste very great but that’s okay that’s not what it’s there for it’s there to be a fun tool students can use don’t worry that’s just my spoon it’s fine let’s put the floor later and now you have this wonderful moldable squishable Play-Doh it’s easy to tear off into chunks hand it out to kids you can make things out of it lots of great fun and entertainment you can even throw some glitter in there and make it sparkly if you want it’s up to you get creative with it because it’s your blob of dough two create and mold and make a masterpiece so Play-Doh fun and our seven days of creation fun six plus arrest wonderful ways to remember and celebrate the story of Genesis 1. so feel free to squish it squeeze it make it take it play it your own way but have fun hopefully this will give you some bouncing off ideas and be a blessing to you in your ministry forever and with whomever that might be now go make some crafts make some disciples and join us again have a great week see you next time.”

Here is the full transcript of the video titled “Craft Ideas: Ascension of Jesus (Luke 24:44-53 and Acts 1:1-11)”:

“Hello there. Today we’re talking about the Ascension, this wonderful reminder of how Jesus went up into heaven and how he’ll come back again someday. But meanwhile, we have jobs to do. Anyways, we’re going to make two crafts today that celebrate the Ascension, that going up.

The first one is pretty simple. It’s kind of a fun recreation of the story and there are many ways that you can do this. There’s lots of fun up and up crafts, but the one we’re going to today is relatively simple. We’re going to use paper to help tell our story. So we’ll start out with a little Jesus picture. This one is kind of cartoonish, yes, but you know, feel free to use whatever works for you. And we’re going to color our Jesus. And of course, yours will be very, very nice because this is the fast version of the coloring job. And even though it’s fast, I still have to make him somewhat human-looking, although this is his resurrected body, so I mean, you know, it’s kind of human, kind of… you get the idea.

But we’ll cut it out. I’m going to attach him to another piece of paper. You can also use a popsicle stick or a straw or a pipe cleaner, but just paper works fine as well. So get him cut out here. And the paper that we attach him to is going to allow us to move him up and down. It’s going to be his secret method of sliding around and moving, if you will. So we’re simply going to fold it so we can attach it to him, like so. And you can use a piece of paper glue, whatever works. Then we’re going to set that aside for a moment and decorate my Ascension scene here.

So we’re going to put a caption, so we’ll say “up, up, and away”. Then down here we’ll say “Jesus ascended to heaven. He’ll be back again someday.” And you are welcome to add to this as well. You can make the whole scene if you want to. Kind of make the hill here, kind of like the mount. You can even add some little extra disciples on the sides there if you want to. Totally up to you. Then I’m going to add some clouds for an extra little something-something. So Jesus will be going up into the clouds. So I’m just going to sprinkle on some cotton balls here.

And then we will insert Jesus. Here’s how that will work. We’re going to cut a slit down the middle of my paper, carefully. Start out with a little, then we will just slip, snip, snip this up. And now, retell the story in a sense. Okay, Jesus back here. And here he is saying goodbye to his disciples. And then he goes up and he ascends into Heaven. Someday he’ll come back for us. Coming down from the clouds, just as you end up. So there you have your ascending Jesus scene. Very fun.

Craft number two is also kind of a fun one. This is sort of a craft and a game together. And we’re going to use a balloon. Balloons go up. And we’re going to make something else go up as well with this. And we’re also going to use, I’m going to use a small paper cup. You could also use a styrofoam cup. You could use a toilet paper roll. There’s a lot of ways that you could do

this. After field testing, I’ve decided the cup was probably my best bet, but multiple methods could work here.

So I’m going to make a little caption to go around my cup. And if you use like a tube or something, you could also decorate it. You could add in some stickers or whatever fun things you want to do. But I’m going to add that for a little flare. So I’m just going to mark on here, remember why I did this random craft. And I’ll just say something simple like “going up, Jesus ascended into heaven”. Very simple. And I can add on some stickers if you please, if I can find my sticker stash. Or I cannot, I cannot have stickers too, that works. And then we’re going to wrap that around.

Fun stars, it’s a good decoration. So once I’ve got my stickers on there, wrap it around my cup. And see, step by step. So I have my cup with its fun decoration. Now I’m going to turn this into a fun game. I’m going to cut the bottom off of the cup, just right at the bottom. Choke a little hole there, snip my way around.

Now I’m going to take my balloon and I’m going to first tie the end here. The end doesn’t have to absolutely have to be tied, but it makes it, it helps a little bit. So, tie my balloon. And now I’m going to snip the bottom off of that balloon. Now you kind of want to start with a smallish hole because you can always make the hole bigger if needed, but you cannot make it smaller. So going to get my better scissors, that’s what I’m going to do. And snip off that balloon. And then I will fit it onto the cup. You’ll see why in a moment.

There we go. Okay, now fit my balloon onto the bottom of that cup. You may need to add some tape here, secure it slightly, possibly, depending on the size of your balloon and how snug it is onto the cup. So now I have a cup, I have a balloon on the end of the cup. And now I’m going to, I am going to add a securing piece of tape, just in case. I don’t trust this.

And you will take a pom-pom, cotton ball, something that can fly in the air for fun and not hurt someone or do any damage. And what we’ll do is we’ll put the pom-pom in. Also, field testing, I recommend one at a time, not multiple pom-poms. And what you will do is you will launch the pom-pom by pulling on the end of that balloon. So, pull on the balloon. When you tap it, you might not have seen that, it flew right out. Let’s try it again just for the visual there. That’s a little better. That was a slow-motion version. So you can get a pretty good, there it goes, launch on these guys simply by popping them out of your thing.

And you can even turn this into a game. If you pop it and then try to catch it again, which is very challenging but doable if you’re determined enough. So fun little game that reminds us of how Jesus went to heaven. Now obviously, he was not launched. I mean, maybe he was, I wasn’t there. I did not see the Ascension. It could have been a rocket launch kind of thing. It probably wasn’t, but you never know.

But just a fun way of remembering that things go up just as Jesus went up. And we have a job to get ready for his return. We are to share his

love and good news with others and patiently wait for what comes next. So two fun crafts to remind us of the Ascension, our Rising Jesus pop-up and our pop-up shooter. Have fun, make them your own, adapt them, tweak them, change them, rearrange them, and come join us again because we have new crafts and children’s message ideas out as well as full lessons for you and your ministry, wherever and with whomever that might be. Go make some crafts, make some disciples, have a great week, and we’ll see you next time.”

It can be easy, though, to get wrapped up in holiday hubbub and forget where our focus should be. As we anticipate and rejoice in the birth of Jesus, we should also think about the blessing of why He came and what it means for us. These fun crafts are great for anytime around Christmas, offering unique takes on the story of the Nativity. A “Star of Bethlehem Scene” uses various media to set up the scene of the story in the stable. A “Messianic Parenthood Puppet” uses a reversible paper bag puppet and Jesus element to tell the tale.

4. Decorate a toilet paper tube as Jesus, wrapped in streamer “swaddling” if desired.
5. Place the baby with either side of the puppet and use to reenact the Nativity story.

Verses or Captions to Consider…  (Luke 2:1-20)

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. -Luke 2:6-7
